What We Offer

Personalized Programming

Each body is unique and so should be its Pilates practice. At Nurture Pilates we pay attention to the body that you are today, always paying close attention to your body’s integrity, its limits, and its potential.

Small Group Classes

Nurture Pilates’ in-studio classes are kept small for your comfort and privacy and so that you can get your teacher’s maximum attention and care. We offer all levels of Classical Pilates on mat and equipment.

Reformer

The Reformer is perhaps the most widely-known piece of Pilates equipment, invented by Joseph Pilates, the creator of the Pilates method of physical fitness. Lessons on the Reformer remove the tendency to use inertia to propel the body through space, so that clients develop true strength in all the muscles of their bodies.

Chair

Joseph Pilates, a New Yorker, developed the Chair for people with limited living space. Originally a piece of living room furniture that converted to a piece of exercise equipment, the Chair is now staple equipment in Pilates studios. Ideal for use by expectant mothers because it accommodates the big tummies of the second and third trimesters, it also the basis of a full-spectrum Pilates workout.

Mat

A juicy workout. Joseph Pilates developed his mat workout to train boxers and police in his native Germany. The mat workout uses body-weight resistance to build strength and challenges bodies to learn to work with gravity to control momentum to make precise and flowing movements.

Cadillac/Tower

Like the Reformer and the Chair, the Cadillac and its little sister, the Tower, use spring tension to challenge the body to move fluidly and with precision.

Pelvic Floor Health From Pre-Natal to Menopause and Beyond

Pelvic floor strength is vital to human health and fitness throughout all stages of our life. Practicing Pilates strengthens the pelvic floor so that the body can support the internal organs, healthy breathing, and circulation through improved posture. Jennifer Calderone uses the techniques developed by Carolyne Anthony of the Center for Women’s Fitness in Chicago to help clients build a strong pelvic floor.
